Why do you ask riders to book and pay for their transportation to the put in location?
Simply put, it is a less expensive and more convenient option for our customers. Here are more details, in case you are curious... In order for us to cover our costs for providing transportation (vehicles, insurance, staffing, etc.) we would need to charge our customers 3 or 4 times more for transportation then it costs them to hire an Uber/Lyft ride. For example, we would need to charge about $15 per person for transportation, but a Lyft ride for a family of four only costs about $12 ($3 per person). Plus, using Uber/Lyft decreases the wait time for our customers. With typical kayak liveries, customers need to wait until everyone in their group checks in before their bus can leave. That can take 30 minutes or longer. When customers arrive at our start location (Point Park), we first help them book their Uber/Lyft ride and then go through on boarding instructions with them while their car is on the way. Then, they can leave for the put in location as soon as the Uber/Lyft arrives rather than waiting around for a large group to check in.
Do you require advance reservations?
Yes, that way we can know you are coming and prepare equipment for you. It also allows us to notify you if we need to cancel your time slot due to the weather, water level, or for other reasons.
